WINNER OF VELASQUEZ V JDS GETS LESNAR OR OVEREEM | Via thenextgreatfighter.com

UFC president Dana White has confirmed Cain Velasquez can expect to face the winner of Brock Lesnar v Alistair Overeem, if he beats Junior Dos Santos later this year.

Velasquez and Dos Santos was made official at a Tuesday press conference, ahead of the maiden defence of Velasquez's heavyweight title. Dos Santos provides his opposition on November 12, in a battle of two exceptional and - in the UFC - undefeated fighters.

The winner now knows, beyond doubt, that the reward for victory will be a meeting with either Lesnar or Overeem. Lesnar is the former UFC champion with a point to prove, while Overeem arrives as the Strikeforce heavyweight king with an army of fans who are convinced he can take out the best the UFC has to offer.

White is not so sure, but he is excited to find out what Overeem can do, confirming the fight is as big as a non-title clash can get. Asked if it will be a No. 1 contender fight, White told MMA Weekly: "Yeah, it is.

"That's a crazy fight. Imagine when those two square off at the weigh-ins. It's going to be awesome. I'm excited for that fight.

"I'm excited to see what Alistair Overeem has. People can yap and say whatever they want; when these guys come over to the UFC, it's a whole other ball game. It's going to be a real good gauge to find out where Alistair really sits in the heavyweight division.

"I'd say it's pretty safe to say [that the winner of Velasquez v Dos Santos will fight the winner of Lesnar v Overeem]."
