Mexico beats New Zealand 3-0 in friendly

As I discussed on Monday, Mexico needed a strong showing in their friendly match against New Zealand to prepare for their Gold Cup defense starting on June 5th. Well, the Tricolors did not disappoint. Giovani dos Santos scored twice and Aldo de Nigris also scored as Mexico went three goals up in the first half against an inexperienced New Zealand defense. After the scoring assault in the first half, nearly the entire starting squad was benched and replaced with a new lineup. Mexico's Goalkeeper, Guillermo Ochoa, only needed two saves for the entire game.

Mexico is set to play in Group A against Costa Rica, Cuba and El Salvador. The team will open up against El Salvador on Sunday where Javier Hernandez is also expected to rejoin the squad.
