Dayro Moreno, is easily the highest profile signing for the Xolos. Moreno has played terrifically as a regular starter with the Colombian national team, who he is playing for at the 2011 Copa America. Not to mention, Dayro Moreno won the Copa Libertadores 2004 with Once Caldas beating Boca Juniors in the final. In that same year he played with Once Caldas in the Intercontinental Cup final, but suffering the loss after a penalty shoot-out against UEFA Champions League winners FC Porto.
After a short stint with Romanian team Steaua Bucureşti, Moreno returned to Once Caldas on a fee around $500.000. Following the season, he was rumored to have a move to Portugal lined up, but when that fell through Tijuana swooped in, buying the star striker for a three year $3.5 million deal.
Xolos chairman Jorge Alberto Hank, has high hopes for the Colombian, yet the Xolos might still need help in order to be mildly successful.
