While on vacation in Guadalajara on Tuesday Javier "Chicharito" learned his grandmother Teresa Gutierrez Hernandez, mother of his father Javier 'Charito' Hernandez, died after battling chronic illness.
The Mexican striker was present at the Tuesday morning training with his former team, Chivas, and hours later, about 14:00, he heard the sad news that his grandmother had died.
Following the services for his grandmother on Wednesday, Chicharito will travel to the United States to join the Red Devils for a tour where they will face teams from the MLS.
