Henderson, the current Strikeforce light heavyweight champion, held both the welterweight and middleweight titles in PRIDE and won the welterweight grand prix in 2005. Emelianenko, who went nine-and-a-half years without a loss, held the heavyweight title and won the heavyweight grand prix in 2004.
After PRIDE, both combatants endured their struggles. Henderson is 5-3, with all three losses coming in championship bouts. Emelianenko is 5-2, with the losses coming in his last two fights.
Saturday night, the two meet in the main event of Strikeforce: Fedor vs. Henderson, which will be held in Chicago and seen live on Showtime at 10 p.m. EST.
