Rafa Marquez left off Mexico roster for friendly versus Serbia

Mexico captain and New York Red Bulls defender/midfielder Rafael Marquez was not included on Jose Manuel de la Torre's roster for El Tri's upcoming friendly versus Serbia.

De La Torre suggested to the AP that Marquez's omission was discipline-related, saying: "I think it's clear, discipline is always going to be a priority in the national team. We've tried to be fair to the facts and take the decisions about who to call up and who not to."

Marquez was suspended for the first two matches of the 2012 MLS season for his involvement in a brawl following the first leg of the Red Bulls' conference semifinal match against the LA Galaxy.

Mexico takes on Serbia on Friday at 9:00 p.m. ET at the Estadio Corregidora in Queretaro.
