Mexican wrestlers battle it out at The Sage

MEXICAN musclemen cause a stir at a venue more used to orchestras than armlocks. Wrestlers from the spectacular Lucha Future show were on Tyneside for a one-off performance of their demanding moves.

The form of wrestling is huge in Mexico, and second only in spectator numbers to football.

“This is a sport with a touch of fantasy and not just an art form. It is huge in our homeland and the wrestlers are treated like stars.”

The sport is based on battles between good and evil, where “heroes are born and super heroes are made”.
