During a ceremony honoring the Mexico born WBO super bantamweight champion, Jorge 'Travieso' Arce (57-6-2) publicly promised Vazquez a rematch. He even went so far to say he would take the fight in Puerto Rico, stating, "Of course I would give him the rematch in Puerto Rico. If our promoters agree, we can fight anywhere - even in his backyard and his father can be the referee."
On May 7, Arce made history by being the first ever Mexican to become a World Champion in four different weight divisions. When he beat a then undefeated WBO Super Bantamweight champion, Wilfredo Vazquez, Jr. of Puerto Rico.
