Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. (43-0-1, 30 KOs), became the first 160 pound Mexican champion by winning a twelve round majority decision over WBC middleweight champ Sebastian Zbik (30-1, 10 KOs) on Saturday night at the Staples Center in Los Angeles. In any case, Chavez displayed great skill in the ring despite not scoring a knockdown against Zbik. Clearly Chavez has a lot of room to improve, but as for Saturday night, he looked great.
Chavez threw a total of 724 power punches, connecting with 242 (33%).
Zbik threw a total of 623 power punches, connecting with 335 (54%).
