Hernandez scored three times Sunday night and Mexico relied on its stingy defense to rout El Salvador 5-0 in the opening match for both teams at the CONCACAF Gold Cup. Commenting in his normal humble way, Hernandez said,
"The most important thing is we got the three points, not the hat trick."
Chicharito's last goal came on a brillant penalty kick that made it seem as if the ManU rookie was shooting to an empty net. Yet, it wasn't his play that surprised him, rather Hernandez seemed struck by the support of behind the Mexican national team, he stated,
"It's unbelievable the support we have from the Mexicans we have that live here. You can see it with your own eyes, 80,000 people and most of them in green shirts."
I am looking forward to their Thursday game against Cuba, which should be Mexico's biggest test in their Gold Cup defense.
