Jaguares strikes late to hold Tigres

Jaguares extended its unbeaten run to eight games and held on to first place in Mexico's Apertura tournament with a 1-1 draw against Tigres this weekend.

Lucas Lobos put the Tigres ahead late with a well positioned tally in the 80th minute of play. However, Jorge Rodríguez came back and scored a clutch goal in the 89th minute to tie the match at 1-1. The match ended in a tie which allowed the streaking Jaguares to remain atop in the standings.

Jaguares have 18 points, the same as Cruz Azul and Chivas, which drew 1-1 over the weekend. However, Jaguares lead on goals scored.

Tigres have 17 points along with defending champion Pumas, which defeated Estudiantes Tecos 2-1 on Saturday.

Should be a tight race in the standings as we get closer the the end of the tournament.
