A man is going to cycle 1,000 miles across Mexico in an
effort to raise £10,000 for Help for Heroes (H4H).
Stuart McCurry is looking to complete the challenge in eight days despite coming up against tropical farmland and a dense jungle, the Chesham Examiner reports.
In order to increase awareness of the event, he recently took part in a charity spinathon at Chesham Leisure Centre, which saw him use an exercise bike almost non-stop from 09:00 GMT to 18:00 GMT.
Mr McCurry, who has previously completed the 350-mile Big Battlefield Bike Ride inFrance ,
played down the significance of his achievements.
"The challenges are less than those faced each day by our troops and in particular, the wounded. As a country we owe a debt to these people," he added.
So far Mr McCurry has collected over £6,000 and this means he is well on his way to reaching his target.
