For the second straight year, the Rangers will play an exhibition game against the Mexico City Red Devils.
The game will be played at the Ballpark in Arlington at 7:05 p.m. CT on March 28. The Rangers will then play two games against the Padres in San Antonio before opening the regular season against the Astros in Houston on April 2.
"This was a huge success last year," Rangers vice president Jim Sundberg said of the 2012 game, which the Rangers won, 13-4. "We're hoping we can continue this on an annual basis."
Sundberg said there is a possibility of the Rangers playing in Mexico City in the future.
"We have talked about it," he said.
The games against the Red Devils and Padres bring an end to a 38-game Spring Training schedule, the longest in club history. The Rangers will play 33 games in Arizona, plus two against the Cubs in Las Vegas on March 16-17.
The 33-game Arizona schedule includes 18 contests at Surprise Stadium. The Rangers will be the home team for 17 of those; they'll be the visitors against the Royals. Texas and Kansas City will play four times in Surprise in 2013, opening the spring schedule with three consecutive games: Friday, Feb. 22 (Rangers home game and the Surprise Sundancers Charity Game; Saturday, Feb. 23 (Royals home game); and Sunday, Feb. 24 (Rangers home game).
