Are soccer players "hurting".... the sport?

Diving, or faking injury and fouls, has become a serious issue in soccer. Last summer's World Cup was a prime example. Soccer had the world's attention, some of the audience was probably unfamiliar with the game and a casual fan of their country, looking to experience a new sport. However, the flops and dives became the major story, overshadowing the drama and world class talent. These dives are silly and are borderline cheating and soccer officials have tried new systems of reducing the theatrics. However, I don't think a yellow card is enough. Blogger Rio Coimbra agrees:
My proposed solution would be one that FIFA has already considered introducing, albeit for other reasons: the blue card. The premise is that it would be shown for offenses that are more serious than those warranting a yellow, but not enough to warrant a red. The punishment is a temporary red card, with the offending player sitting out a pre-determined amount of time (say 5 or 10 minutes).
I have to agree with Coimbra on this one. Taking a player out of the game momentarily is the best option. The simple threat of a yellow and the harshness of a straight red is either too little or not enough. What is your opinion? What should soccer do to fix an issue that could be hurting soccer's chances for expanding to new audiences?
